Job description

Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree plus 6 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period. Applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within our facilities.

Responsibilities for this Position

Role and Objectives:

As an analog electrical engineer at Progeny Systems, you will be part of or lead a cross-functional team focused on developing military-grade electronics and underwater acoustic systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze and design analog circuits including signal conditioning, power, transformers, inductors, and amplifiers.
  2. Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware.
  3. Develop test criteria and assist in designing test systems.
  4. Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions.
  5. Prepare technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications for program management and Navy customers.
  6. Generate design and interface documentation.

Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of op-amps and transistors, including Bipolar, JFETs, and MOSFETs.
  2. Familiarity with low noise preamplifiers.
  3. Understanding of transformers and inductors, including sizing and key parameters such as flux density, magnetizing current, leakage inductance, losses, and temperature rise.
  4. Experience with active filter and PLL design.
  5. Experience with the engineering development lifecycle from concept to testing.
  6. Proficiency in analog circuit design principles, including signal integrity.
  7. Experience with PCB design, including creating diagrams, SPICE analysis, component selection, schematic entry (OrCAD Capture preferred), and collaborating with layout teams.
  8. Strong documentation and communication skills.
  9. Additional experience with battery systems, electric motors, MATLAB programming, solder rework, and underwater acoustics is a plus.

Workplace Options:

Salary Note

This is a typical salary range based on experience and location. Actual pay may vary. The posting remains open until filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $139,189.00 - USD $154,412.00 per year.
