Job summary

Tenby Setia EcoHill is seeking a skilled Speech and Language Therapist to support students aged 4 to 16 with speech, language and communication needs. You will assess, plan and deliver targeted intervention, working with teachers, parents and the SEN Centre to promote confidence and participation.

Tenby Setia EcoHill is keen to employ a skilled and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to support the development of the school’s SEN provision. The school prides itself on a progressive and inclusive approach, ensuring that all students are supported to access learning and achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work with students aged 4 to 16, providing assessment and targeted intervention for those with speech, language and communication needs. They will play a key role in supporting students’ confidence, independence and participation in both academic and social aspects of school life.

The school has been growing quickly over the past 3 years, with a strong focus on inclusive practice. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the continued development of the SEN Centre, work closely with teachers and parents, and support the wider school through collaboration and training where appropriate.

Speech and Language Therapist - Key Responsibilities

• A team player who is flexible to meet the needs of the SEN provision and wider school. Provides speech and language assessment and intervention for students aged 4-16.
• Conducts assessments, observations and screenings to identify communication needs and barriers to learning and participation.
• Plans and delivers individual and small-group intervention programmes to support speech, language, communication and social skills.
• Provides direct therapy, in‑class support and practical strategies to staff to support students effectively.
• Works collaboratively with teachers, learning assistants, parents and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
• Contributes to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitors student progress, adapting interventions as required.
• Supports inclusive classroom practice by advising on communication strategies and appropriate adaptations.
• Maintains accurate records, reports and documentation in line with school and professional standards.
• Promotes student wellbeing, confidence and independence in all interactions and interventions.
• Supports the development of the SEN Centre and contributes to training, resources and best practices.
• Maintains a professional appearance and attitude and upholds high standards of conduct at all times.
• Reports to the Child Protection Officer any concerns regarding student welfare in line with safeguarding policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned and contributes to the wider life of the school.

• Maintains a working knowledge of relevant School policies, including safeguarding, SEN, health and safety and confidentiality.
• Participates in meetings related to curriculum, student welfare and school operations as required.
• Supports school events and activities where appropriate.
• Performs other duties as reasonably directed by the Principal.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Speech-Language Therapy, Speech Sciences, or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Must be registered with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC).
• Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of speech, language, communication, social interaction, and pragmatic language development in children with ASD.
• Knowledge of AAC, PECS, visual supports, social stories, and structured communication approaches is an advantage.
• Able to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, SENCO, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Patient, compassionate, organised, and child centred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Patient, caring, responsible and passionate about teaching.
