The primary focus of the Work, Health & Safety (WHS) function is to develop, implement, and manage ResMed's Health and Safety Management Systems, policies, and practices, reinforcing the company’s commitment to providing a healthy and safe workplace. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with local regulations, fostering a culture of safety, and maximizing organizational risk resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety Management: Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety programs and policies to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees.
- Workers Compensation & Injury Management: Manage workers’ compensation processes, including injury management, claims, and ensuring the correct handling of injuries and accidents in compliance with regulations.
- Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions: Investigate accidents, injuries, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventative measures to prevent future occurrences.
- Hazard Identification & Risk Management: Lead the identification and management of workplace hazards, ensuring prompt incident reporting and compliance with safety protocols.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant local and international health and safety regulations, driving continuous improvement in the company’s safety systems.
- Professional Expertise: Apply fundamental WHS principles to solve complex issues and advise leadership on risk management strategies.
Responsibilities by Career Stage:
- Early Career: Perform routine professional-based activities and assist in the execution of safety initiatives.
- Mid-Career: Contribute to and manage WHS projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Specialist/Expert: Provide expert guidance and direction in WHS-related matters, advising senior management and the wider organization.
- Principal: Leverage professional expertise to influence strategy and drive business results, fostering productive internal and external relationships.
Leadership & Team Collaboration:
- Occasionally lead project teams, driving key initiatives related to WHS.
- Mentor and train junior staff, helping to develop their skills and knowledge in health and safety practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a WHS or safety management role.
- Strong understanding of local health and safety regulations and best practices in injury management and risk mitigation.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and provide strategic input.
Preferred:
- Certification in Health and Safety Management (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA).
- Experience in managing health and safety programs in a corporate or industrial environment.
- Ability to apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of health and safety issues effectively.
