# Specialist, *Software Engineer*Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaPermanent#### Duties & Responsibilities* Partner with product managers and stakeholders to shape requirements, challenge assumptions, and define technical direction for complex initiatives.* Lead the design and development of software solutions, making architectural decisions that balance scalability, maintainability, and business needs.* Write high-quality, performant, and maintainable code, and set the standard for engineering craft within the team.* Drive comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, to ensure reliability at scale.* Design and implement integrations with third-party applications, APIs, and services, handling complex failure modes and edge cases.* Own critical systems end-to-end, from design through deployment, monitoring, and long-term operational health.* Lead code reviews, uphold engineering standards, and drive improvements to team practices and processes.* Mentor mid-level and junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the team.#### Requirements* REQUIREMENTS* Extensive professional experience as a software engineer, with a strong track record of delivering complex production systems.* Deep proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, JavaScript, etc., and the ability to pick up new technologies quickly.* Proven experience designing and building scalable, maintainable software architectures.* Strong grasp of software development methodologies and best practices (Agile, Scrum, etc.), and the judgement to apply them pragmatically.* Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills, with the ability to diagnose issues across the full stack.* Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence technical direction and explain decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.* GOOD TO HAVE* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.* Hands-on experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and modern version control workflows (Git).* Strong knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL) and data modelling.* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and distributed systems.* Familiarity with API design (REST, GraphQL) and microservices or event-driven architectures.* Track record of mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar of a team.
