Merck Gruppe - MSD Sharp & Dohme in Petaling Jaya offers a Hybrid role in a Global Finance Shared Services Center. You will support fixed assets, GL processes, and account reconciliations for multiple regions, ensuring accurate ledgers and timely reporting.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Finance/Accounting, 4+ years in multinational finance, and English proficiency; Mandarin is a plus. SAP experience and US GAAP knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance.
• At least 4 years in finance/accounting in a multinational.
• English skills (spoken and written) required.
• Mandarin fluency is desired.
• Experience with US GAAP and non-US GAAP environments is desired.
• Experience balancing reconciliations and global process exposure.

Responsibilities

• Provide fixed asset support and period-end close for assigned markets.
• Support General Ledger and AtR sub-process activities.
• Maintain accurate country-specific accounting ledgers.
• Ensure timely period reporting per corporate and country rules.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and sign-off.
• Collaborate with Virtual Finance Teams and onsite BSC towers.
• Ensure SOX compliance and audit-ready financial packages.
• Identify opportunities to streamline service delivery and participate in projects.
• Manage workload with team to gain exposure to multiple finance disciplines.

Job Description

Our company's Business Service Centers (BSCs), located across three regions (Americas, Europe, and Asia), are responsible for the timely and efficient delivery of standardized, global financial processes. The BSCKL in Petaling Jaya, Malaysiais responsible for the execution and delivery of a broad range of financial services and processes across our company's business divisions and markets for all the three regions.

Position Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide fixed asset support and analysis inclusive of period end financial close responsibilities for the assigned markets
• Provide support across General Ledger and other AtR sub-process activities
• Maintain an accurate and current accounting ledger which reflects the country's transactional reality through timely posting of all required items
• Ensure that all transactions are correctly reflected in the ledger on a country basis
• Ensure accurate and timely period reporting that complies with Corporate and country requirements
• Responsible for monthly Account Reconciliation processes on a timely basis and adhering to all corporate standards and guidelines
• Actively identify opportunities for streamlining and rendering service delivery more efficiently, and participating in special projects
• Work closely with other team members to effectively manage workload and gain exposure to multiple finance and business disciplines within our company
• Review and sign off of the final financial package and the Balance Sheet Reconciliations
• Execute work in line with audit controls and accounting principles
• Collaborating and working together with our company's Virtual Finance Teams (COSI, IC COE, EMEA/Americas BSCs & Local Finance) and other onsite BSC towers (OtC/PTP)
• Ensure compliance of accounting standards & reporting SOX requirements
• Participate in Global Projects and Initiatives
• Ensure the required accuracy on all defined KPIs and SLA’s are met

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a finance or accounting department of a multinational company including demonstrated experience in dealing with US and ex‑US accounting (Pharmaceutical industry a plus)
• Business-level English skills (speaking and writing) required
• Business-level fluency in Mandarin language (speaking and writing) is desired
• Experience using SAP desired
• Experience with US GAAP is desired
• Experience with non‑US GAAP environments
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliations
• Experience working with global cultures
• Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast‑paced and high‑volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills required
