Job summary

HGST Malaysia Sdn. Bhd is seeking an experienced Specialist 2, HR Experience Partner in Malaysia to support local HR programs and guide employees and people leaders through the lifecycle.

You will work under the direction of senior HR professionals to deliver quality HR services at the site level. In this role you will help ensure regulatory compliance, support HR program implementation, and leverage digital tools and data to improve HR service delivery while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR/related field or HR certification desirable.
• 2–4 years of HR experience.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of Malaysia labour law (Sarawak Ordinance, Employment Act, IR Act).
• Willingness to learn digital tools and AI models.
• Experience supporting HR programs or projects.

As Specialist 2, HR Experience Partner (Malaysia), you will support the execution of HR programs locally and provide guidance to employees and people leaders. Working under the direction of senior HR team members and HRBPs, you will deliver quality HR services across the employee lifecycle at the site level.

You will help ensure compliance with country regulations, support HR program implementation, and contribute to creating positive employee experiences that align with WD's culture and values. You will also learn to leverage digital tools and data to improve HR service delivery effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports the implementation of corporate HR practices, guidelines, and policies under guidance from senior HR team members

Demonstrates WD culture and values in daily interactions, fostering a respectful and dignified work environment

Provides guidance and support to managers and employees on HR programs including talent identification, recognition, focal reviews, and workforce planning activities

Assists managers and employees with HR-related questions and concerns, escalating complex issues to senior HR partners or HRBPs as appropriate

Contributes to HR initiatives and projects by executing assigned tasks and supporting site-level HR activities

Supports the delivery of HR programs and training initiatives at the site level, working closely with HR Centre of Excellence (COE) and senior HR team members.

Assists in ensuring HR policies and practices comply with applicable audit frameworks - ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22301, ISO 45001, Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), customer audits, and company policies

Provides compassionate support to employees during emergencies, natural disasters, and bereavement cases under guidance from senior HR staff

Executes HR tasks and activities aligned to site needs, supporting HRBPs and senior HR partners with program implementation

Learns to use AI-enabled tools and HR technology to support routine HR processes such as onboarding, engagement activities, and HR service delivery

Stays informed about HR technology trends and participates in learning opportunities to build technical capabilities

Maintains awareness of country-specific compliance regulations relevant to Malaysia, including Sarawak Ordinance Labour Law, and applies them appropriately in daily work

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field; or relevant HR certification (SHRM, CIPD, or equivalent) is desirable.

2–4 years of experience in HR or relevant experience

Demonstrated ability to support HR initiatives and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across different levels

Willingness to learn, adapt, and able to work under guidance in ambiguous situations

Organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering quality work

PREFERRED:

Basic understanding of HR technology and willingness to learn new digital tools, example Artificial Intelligence Models to simplify Business Processes.

Understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment law

Experience supporting HR programs or projects in a business environment

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Exposure to HR in a manufacturing environment is an advantage

Demonstrates a structured approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify issues and propose workable solutions with guidance from senior HR team members

SKILLS

Good communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively at various organizational levels.

Basic understanding of HR best practices and applicable policies.

Familiarity with Malaysia employment laws (Sarawak Ordinance Labour Law, Malaysia Employment Act, Industrial Relations Act, etc.).

Developing analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Ability to learn and apply guidelines, regulations, and policies appropriately
