Job summary

TE Connectivity is seeking an experienced Sourcing Leader to drive regional strategic sourcing and supplier development for metal stamping in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. You will partner with Engineering, Quality and Operations to build a competitive supplier ecosystem and meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.

The role requires hands-on, analytical leadership with deep stamping process knowledge, end-to-end RFQ management, and localization strategies.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, supplier development, or procurement, preferably in metal stamping.
• Strong technical understanding of stamping processes, tooling, dies, and material utilization.
• Proven experience in supplier scouting, technical/commercial evaluation, RFQ execution, cost breakdown analysis, localization, and supplier performance management.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, tooling concepts, and cost drivers to translate technical requirements into sourcing decisions.
• Willingness to travel regularly within Malaysia and Southeast Asia to visit suppliers and support sourcing activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop regional commodity and supplier strategies for metal stamping aligned with global priorities.
• Manage end-to-end RFI/RFQ, supplier evaluation, cost analysis, negotiation, contracting, and sourcing implementation.
• Drive localization and supplier footprint optimization with strategic suppliers.
• Identify, qualify, and develop stamping suppliers in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
• Lead supplier improvement plans, business reviews, and corrective actions with cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Quality on specs, DFM, material selection, and change control.
• Support NPI, supplier transfers, localization, tooling launches, and capacity ramp-up.
• Monitor supplier KPIs for quality, cost, delivery and set up recovery plans when needed.

Job Overview

This position will lead strategic sourcing and supplier development for metal stamping in Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asia region. The role will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, NPI, and global commodity teams to build a competitive supplier ecosystem and achieve cost, quality, delivery, technology, capacity, and risk-management objectives.

The ideal candidate is self-driven, analytical, and hands‑on, with strong knowledge of stamping technologies and tooling, proven experience in end‑to‑end sourcing, and the ability to develop suppliers and execute localization initiatives in a fast-paced, cross‑functional environment.

Job Requirements

Stamping Commodity Strategy & Strategic Sourcing:

• Develop and execute regional commodity and supplier strategies for metal stamping, aligned with business and global commodity priorities.
• Manage end-to-end RFI/RFQ, supplier evaluation, cost analysis, negotiation, contracting, award recommendation, and sourcing implementation.
• Drive localization, supplier footprint optimization, spend concentration with strategic suppliers, dual sourcing, and supply‑base resilience.

Supplier Scouting, Qualification & Development

• Identify, assess, qualify, and develop stamping suppliers in Malaysia and Southeast Asia based on technology, tooling, quality, cost, capacity, delivery, and compliance capabilities.
• Build supplier capability across progressive, high‑precision, simple, insert/over‑molding interface, and plated stamping applications, where applicable.
• Lead supplier improvement plans, business reviews, corrective actions, and capability roadmaps in partnership with Engineering, Quality, and Operations.

Technical & Cross-functional Execution

• Partner with Engineering and Quality to align on specifications, DFM, tolerance requirements, material selection, tooling concepts, qualification plans, and change control.
• Support NPI, supplier transfers, localization, tooling launch, capacity ramp‑up, and production readiness to ensure on‑time project execution.
• Coordinate issue resolution across suppliers and internal stakeholders, with clear ownership, timing, escalation, and closure. Cost, Commercial & Productivity Management.
• Develop cost models and should‑cost analysis covering raw material, press rate, tooling, labor, yield, secondary processes, plating, packaging, and logistics.
• Lead annual negotiation, benchmarking, VA/VE, process optimization, material utilization, and supplier productivity initiatives.
• Monitor commodity trends and commercial risks, and convert insights into sourcing actions and measurable savings. Supplier Performance, Capacity & Risk Management.
• Monitor supplier KPIs for quality, cost, delivery, service, capacity, and project execution; drive recovery plans when performance is below target.
• Assess risks related to capacity, tooling readiness, business continuity, sole‑source dependency, raw material, financial exposure, and geographic concentration.
• Maintain accurate supplier, spend, capability, capacity, and sourcing‑pipeline data for management review and decision‑making.

What Your Background Should Look Like

• 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, supplier development, manufacturing engineering, or procurement, preferably in metal stamping.
• Strong technical understanding of stamping processes, including progressive and compound tooling, press capability, dies, material utilization, tolerances, secondary operations, and common metal materials.
• Proven experience in supplier scouting, technical/commercial evaluation, RFQ execution, cost breakdown analysis, contract negotiation, localization, and supplier performance management.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, tooling concepts, manufacturing processes, and cost drivers, and to translate technical requirements into sourcing decisions.
• Strong analytical, project‑management, negotiation, communication, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to independently drive multiple projects end‑to‑end.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken. Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin is an advantage for regional supplier engagement.
• Willingness to travel regularly within Malaysia and Southeast Asia to visit suppliers and support sourcing, qualification, development, and escalation activities.
