Alpha Solar is seeking a proactive Project/Operation & Maintenance Engineer/Technician to oversee solar PV projects in Malaysia. The successful candidate will manage project execution, ensure compliance with safety standards, and conduct maintenance, working both independently and with a team. Ideal applicants will have technical knowledge of solar systems, strong problem-solving skills, and relevant experience in project management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in solar PV project management or O&M roles.
  • Certifications such as PW wireman, chargeman, CIDB Green Card are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Malaysian grid codes is a plus.

Job Description: Project/Operation & Maintenance Engineer/Technician
Location:Malaysia
Department:Solar PV Project/Operation
Reports To:Project/Operation Manager

Role Summary:
We seek a proactive Project/Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Engineer/Technician to oversee the planning, execution, and maintenance of solar PV projects in Malaysia. The role ensures operational efficiency, compliance with safety standards, and timely project delivery while managing both technical and administrative aspects of solar installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end project execution, including project planning, preparation, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet project timelines and quality standards.
  • Ensure proper communication to customers, contractors, logistics partners, and project team for Operation Excellence.
  • Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar PV systems (e.g., inverters, panels, monitoring systems) to optimize performance.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze data, and generate reports for stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards (e.g., CIDB, Suruhanjaya Tenaga), and environmental guidelines.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to resolve technical issues and ensure seamless operations.
  • Prepare documentation, including work schedules, risk assessments, and post-maintenance reports.
  • Provide on-site training to technicians and ensure adherence to O&M protocols.
  • Respond promptly to system faults, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

Skills Required:

  • Technical knowledge of solar PV systems, grid integration, and O&M best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Works and Power Points.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to dynamic site conditions.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Malaysia and work in outdoor environments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in solar PV project management or O&M roles.
  • Certifications such as PW wireman, chargeman, CIDB Green Card, or solar-specific credentials (e.g., SEDA wireman) are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Malaysian grid codes and basic Grid Connected PV systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to handle physical site tasks.
