Job summary

FINEXUS Group seeks an experienced Backend Engineering Lead to mentor a growing team and deliver scalable, secure e-invoicing solutions on AREMA, a cloud-native platform. You will drive architecture, governance, and cross‑functional collaboration across product, operations, and security teams.

You will oversee development, testing, and deployment, ensuring robust security and regulatory compliance while advancing performance and reliability in the fintech domain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of e-invoicing systems, APIs, and integrations with financial systems.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, Golang; cloud services and containerised platforms; CI/CD pipelines.
• In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes and database systems (SQL/NoSQL).
• Leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and decision-making under pressure.
• Experience in financial technology, Peppol, payments, or ERP integrations is a plus.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards and data privacy laws.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, ensuring high performance and engagement.

• Collaborate with project managers, product managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to define project requirements and priorities.

• Compliance and Security
• Ensure the system complies with relevant regulatory standards and data privacy laws.
• Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive financial data.
• Innovation and Technology Strategy
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in e‑invoicing and fintech.
• Recommend and implement tools, frameworks, or methodologies to enhance productivity and system performance.
• Product Support and Incident Management
• Oversee the timely resolution of production issues and provide technical guidance to the support team.
• Act as the Incident Commander during critical incidents, coordinating cross‑functional teams to ensure swift resolution and effective communication with stakeholders.
• Continuously improve incident response processes and documentation to enhance system reliability and minimize downtime.
• Stakeholder Collaboration
• Act as the primary technical liaison between engineering, operations, and business teams.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and technical insights to non‑technical stakeholders effectively.

Key Qualifications:

• Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a

related field.

• Minimum 7 years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Technical Expertise
• Strong knowledge of e‑invoicing systems, APIs, and integrations with financial systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages in Java (preferable), Python, Golang etc.
• Experience with cloud services, containerised platforms (e.g. AWS EKS, Azure K8s, SUSE Rancher) and CI/CD pipelines.
• In‑depth knowledge of Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with database systems. Knowledge of SQL, ORMs, and a variety of databases (SQL and NoSQL).

• Proven ability to manage and inspire engineering teams.
• Experience in handling cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder communication.

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to make sound technical and strategic decisions under pressure.
• Domain Knowledge
• Experience in financial technology, particularly in e‑invoicing, Peppol, payments, or ERP integrations, is a significant advantage.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and standards such as LHDN guidelines, BNM RMiT, or PCI DSS.
