Join us as a Software Engineering Manager! Our company provides award winning trading systems to majority of the financial brokerages in Singapore & Malaysia. Our clients also include major international banks in Asia.

We are looking for committed hands-on Software Engineering Managers to lead and work closely with our dynamic software development team. Successful candidates will be responsible for working on projects involving gathering and analyzing business requirements, translating client requests into system design and product enhancements.

This position is based in our Kuala Lumpur office, located at Menara Worldwide, Bukit Bintang, Malaysia.

More experienced candidates will be considered for senior positions.

You will be involved with:

1. Project Leadership:
   - Lead a team of engineers in delivering software projects, providing technical guidance and mentorship
   - Coordinate with project managers to plan, develop, and deliver projects within agreed timelines
   - Delegate tasks to team members based on their skills and workload but also able to be hands on when required
2. Client Management:
   - Work closely with the Project Manager to understand client requirements and ensure they are analyzed and understood thoroughly
   - Communicate directly with clients during requirement study activities when needed
3. Technical Leadership:
   - Collaborate with architecture teams and colleagues in designing new modules and features
   - Ensure technical designs and specifications are properly documented with the help of the architecture team
   - Drive technical decision-making, ensuring the use of appropriate tools, technologies, and best practices
4. Quality Assurance:
   - Ensure project quality meets agreed standards and adheres to the project way of work
   - Establish and maintain quality compliant processes within the team, including code reviews, testing, and continuous integration
5. Team Management:
   - Manage the performance and career development of direct reports
   - Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative team culture
   - Motivate & address areas of improvements within the team
   - Assess staffing management plan and resources
6. Stakeholder Communication:
   - Regularly update senior management, project managers, and other stakeholders on project status, risks, issues, and mitigations
   - Facilitate clear communication among team members, clients, and other relevant parties

Job Requirements:

1. Education & Experience:
   - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
   - Proven experience (5+ years) as a Software Engineer with at least 1 year in a team management role
   - Experience working on complex software projects using modern technologies and methodologies
2. Leadership & Soft Skills:
   - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
   - Ability to motivate and manage teams, foster collaboration, and drive consensus
   - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make tough decisions under uncertainty
   - Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira) is a plus
