Software Engineer and IT Support - Temporary

Reporting to: Software engineer & IT support reports to the Head of IT.

General Overview:

Software Engineer - Analyze, design, and develop software. Tasks include writing functional specifications, design documentation, coding, unit testing, debugging, integration, performance tuning, and maintenance of assigned software modules. IT Support - handle hands-on technical tasks, assisting in the smooth operation of the school’s IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• End-User Support: Serve as the first point of contact for employees seeking technical assistance via phone, email, or the ticketing system.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to laptops/desktops (Windows/macOS), printers, mobile devices, and network connectivity.
• Account Management: Manage user accounts, including creation, modification, and termination in Active Directory / Azure AD and other company systems.
• Software & Hardware Management: Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, and applications.
• Onboarding/Offboarding: Prepare and deploy IT equipment for new hires and manage equipment returns for departing employees.
• Documentation: Create and update user guides, technical support documentation, and contribute to the IT knowledge base.
• Automation & Scripting: (Where applicable) Assist in writing and maintaining simple scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to automate repetitive IT tasks like software deployment, user administration, or system reporting.

Requirements:

• Experience: Fresh graduate or 1 year of experience
• Operating Systems: Strong proficiency in supporting Windows 10/11 and/or macOS environments
• Hardware: Hands-on experience troubleshooting laptops, desktops, and common peripherals
• Networking: Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and VPN configuration
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer-service focus
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently
• Programming/Scripting: Foundational knowledge of a scripting language such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash is highly desirable
