Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build a new B2B corporate learning platform. You will shape product and engineering culture, work across the full stack, and ship features for enterprise clients and thousands of learners.

You’ll collaborate with Product, Learning, and Design to deliver scalable, secure, and delightful software. This hands‑on role requires strong React on the frontend, Node.js on the backend, and cloud deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building modern web applications.
• Strong experience building applications using React.
• Experience building scalable backend services using Node.js and RESTful APIs.
• Experience designing and working with PostgreSQL databases.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, including testing, code quality, version control, and debugging.
• Experience working with Git and modern CI/CD workflows.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment with evolving priorities.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to work closely with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Experience with Docker and containerised deployments.
• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
• Knowledge of authentication technologies such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and SSO.
• Experience with modern testing frameworks and automated deployment pipelines.
• Experience within EdTech, HR Tech, or enterprise SaaS products.
• Interest in AI-assisted software development and developer tooling.
• Previous experience at an early-stage startup or as a founding engineer.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architectural discussions and evolve the platform as it grows.
• Review code and provide constructive feedback to teammates.
• Identify technical debt and proactively improve code quality and developer experience.
• Help establish engineering best practices around testing, documentation, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.
• Stay curious about emerging technologies and evaluate new tools where they provide real value.
• Work as part of a collaborative, supportive engineering team and mentor junior engineers.

As one of our founding engineers, you will play a key role in shaping both the product and the engineering culture. You’ll work across the full stack to design, build, and ship features that directly impact enterprise clients and thousands of learners.

What you will do

1 | Build great product

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality features across both frontend and backend systems.
