Job summary

Motorola Solutions in Bayan Lepas, Penang, is seeking an experienced firmware engineer to develop software for professional and mission-critical radio devices. You will contribute across specification, design, implementation and testing, and collaborate with multiple design centers.

The role requires strong C/C++, embedded systems debugging, and familiarity with Agile methodologies. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-changing environment and willing to work onsite in Bayan Lepas.

Qualifications

• PhD / Master's / Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Telecommunications / Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• Preferably 1–5 years' experience in firmware development.
• Embedded system debugging and strong analytical skills required.
• Proficient in C/C++ programming.
• Experience with Scrum/Agile/SAFe development.
• Experience in real-time embedded software for communications devices is a plus.

Job Description

• Responsible for developing firmware for communication devices for the professional and mission critical markets in the commercial, government and industrial segments.

• Participate in all aspects of the product development process including specification definition, design, implementation and testing and possess a good understanding of the various software lifecycles.

• Coordinate and participate in software design and code review.

• Ability to work and communicate well across different functional teams/design centers.

• Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology consistently apply best practices & continuous improvement.

Basic Requirements

• PhD / Master's / Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Telecommunications / Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

• Preferably with at least 1-5 years' working experience or equivalent in firmware development.

• Embedded system debugging and strong analytical skills are essential.

• Good Programming & debugging skills in C/C++.

• Experience with Scrum/Agile/SAFe development methodologies.

• Experience in real-time embedded software development for communication devices, automotive applications, industrial automation and consumer products will be an added advantage.

• Knowledge of test equipment such as oscilloscope, audio/logic analyzer & signal generator will be an added advantage.

• Good foundation knowledge of microprocessors and controller design will be an added advantage.

• Ability to work and communicate well across different design centers

• Knowledge in Perl, Bash, Python, C# programming would be an added advantage.

• Must be creative, independent, good team player, and highly motivated to learn and adapt to fast-changing technologies and environment.

• Candidate must be willing to work in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
