Job summary

Brighten in Malaysia is seeking a Software Developer (AI-Assisted Development) to join an AI-focused software team. You will build, test, and deploy web apps using Node.js and React, and leverage AI agents and tools to accelerate development while carefully reviewing AI-generated code.

The role requires 2–3 years of experience, Docker and Kubernetes familiarity, RESTful APIs, and CI/CD practices. Office-based, full-time with standard hours; occasional overtime not expected.

Qualifications

Looking to build software while working with the latest AI development tools?

We are looking for a Software Developer (AI-Assisted Development) to be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from development using AI agents and tools, through automated testing, system integration and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), to containerized deployment.

We are looking for someone who already has a solid foundation in Node.js, modern frontend frameworks and API integration, but is still at an early stage of their career and keen to further develop their technical capabilities in an AI-focused environment.

Hands-on experience using AI to assist in both development and code review is essential.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop, test, maintain, and deploy web applications across the full lifecycle.
• Develop backend services using Node.js and frontend applications using React or similar. Python may be used where appropriate.
• Use AI coding agents/tools such as Claude Code and Codex to accelerate development, while critically reviewing AI-generated code before merging.
• Perform AI-assisted code reviews, identify defects, and maintain coding standards.
• Maintain AI instruction/prompt files such as CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs, including internal and third-party services.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Develop automated unit, integration, and E2E tests, and support system integration, debugging, and UAT.
• Use Docker, Dockerfiles, and docker-compose for containerised development and deployment.
• Work with Kubernetes/cloud container services and CI/CD.
• Document services, APIs, data stores, infrastructure, and technical designs.
• Troubleshoot issues, support releases, documentation, and continuous improvements.
• Research AI development tools/workflows and perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who has a solid software development foundation and is interested in developing further in an AI-focused software development environment.

You should have:

• Higher Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 2–3 years of relevant software development experience.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks, preferably React. Python is an advantage.
• Daily experience using AI coding assistants/agents and ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code.
• Docker experience required. Kubernetes or cloud container services such as ECS/AKS is an advantage.
• Understanding of client-server, microservices, and event-driven architecture patterns.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, system integration, SQL/NoSQL, Git, and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, services, and development tools.
• Understanding of SDLC, automated testing, and debugging.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to learn new technologies and AI tools for software development.
• Occasional overtime may be required for specific project needs. Regular overtime is not expected.

AI-Focused Development Environment

This role is suited to a developer who is interested in how AI coding agents and tools can be incorporated into real software development workflows.

You will not only use AI tools to accelerate development, but will also be expected to critically review AI-generated code, support AI-assisted code review, maintain AI instructions and prompts, and research new AI development workflows.
