Software Configuration Management Engineer
We are seeking a Software Configuration Management (SCM) Engineer with experience in software development process. This role is critical to ensuring traceability, integrity, and audit readiness of software life cycle data and artifacts. You will drive SCM strategy, lead change control, and work closely with engineering and certification teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the SCM process across the full software life cycle.
- Establish and maintain configuration identification for all software life cycle data and configuration items.
- Define and manage baselines, versions, and releases, ensuring integrity and traceability.
- Lead change control activities, including impact analysis, traceability, documentation, and stakeholder reviews.
- Manage problem reporting systems, ensuring linkage to change control workflows.
- Maintain configuration status accounting with accurate reporting of item status, baselines, and release history.
- Implement and oversee robust archiving, retrieval, and release procedures for software and life cycle data.
- Collaborate with development, verification, safety, and certification teams to ensure SCM compliance and readiness for FAA/EASA audits.
- Provide guidance and training to teams on SCM tools, best practices, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Evaluate, manage, and optimize SCM tools and technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software configuration management, preferably in avionics or other safety-critical domains.
- Strong understanding of traceability, baseline management, and change control.
- Experience with problem reporting systems and integration with SCM workflows.
- Proficiency with SCM tools such as SVN, Git, DOORS, JIRA, IBM EWM.
- Strong documentation, communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
