ASocial Media Officeris responsible for developing, implementing, and managing an organisation’s social media strategy to increase brand awareness, improve marketing efforts, and drive engagement.
Job Purpose
To plan, create, and publish content across social media platforms, manage online engagement, and analyse social media performance to support the organisation’s communication and marketing goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation & Management:
- Develop and schedule engaging, creative, and high-quality content for various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Youtube, etc.).
- Collaborate with designers, writers, and other teams to ensure content aligns with brand voice and strategy.
- Community Engagement:
- Monitor social media accounts and respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner.
- Build and maintain a strong online community.
- Strategy Development:
- Develop social media strategies to support marketing campaigns and organizational objectives.
- Research trends, audience preferences, and emerging platforms to optimize performance.
- Analytics & Reporting:
- Track and report on social media KPIs (likes, shares, reach, engagement, click-through rates, conversions, etc.).
- Use analytics tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Google Analytics) to assess performance and adjust strategies.
- Advertising:
- Plan and manage paid social media campaigns.
- Optimise ad performance and budget based on data insights.
- Brand Consistency:
- Ensure all social media content is consistent with the organization’s brand, values, and tone of voice.
- Crisis Management:
- Identify and escalate any potential PR issues or negative trends online.
- Help manage responses during crises or controversies.
Key Skills and Qualification
- Proven experience managing social media platforms in a professional setting
- Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills
- Familiarity with content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) and social media management tools
- Knowledge of SEO, web traffic metrics, and social media algorithms
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
