Job summary

EC-Council in Malaysia is seeking an Intern - SOC Analyst L1 to support the Security Operations Center in monitoring and responding to cybersecurity threats. This hands-on role exposes you to SIEM, IDS/IPS, and firewalls under supervision, with real-time alert investigations and incident response activities.

You will work with IT, engineering, and compliance teams to strengthen security measures, document incidents, and participate in security awareness training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Cybersecurity or related field.
• Basic cybersecurity principles and network knowledge.
• Familiar with security tools like SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS.
• Experience with Windows/Linux OS and network protocols.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls) to detect threats.
• Identify and analyze security incidents in real-time.
• Act as first responder coordinating with teams to contain and resolve incidents.
• Investigate alerts and perform root cause analysis.
• Document incidents, create reports and track metrics.
• Identify vulnerabilities by regular scanning and reviewing systems.
• Collaborate with IT, engineering, and compliance teams to strengthen security.
• Assist in security awareness training for employees and threat updates.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies.
• Identify areas for improvement in monitoring and incident response.
