This role is responsible for managing the entire SMT process, from stencil printing to reflow soldering and inspection, while driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage SMT manufacturing processes, including stencil printing, pick-and- place, reflow soldering, AOI and SPI.
- Ensure efficient PCB assembly, including through-hole and mixed-technology assembly, conformal coating, and soldering techniques.
- Optimize OEE by reducing defects, improving yield, and enhancing line efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis on SMT defects (e.g., tombstoning, solder bridging, voids).
- Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001, ISO 9001, and other quality standards.
- Oversee SMT machine operations, including (eg. Fuji, Yamaha, ASM, Panasonic, SMT lines, reflow ovens, and wave soldering equipment.
- Manage Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor and control production.
- Lead and mentor SMT engineers, technicians, and operators, fostering technical growth and innovation.
- Collaborate with design, production, quality, and supply chain teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Set KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma (5S, Kaizen, DMAIC) principles.
- Oversee NPI processes, ensuring smooth transitions from prototype to mass production.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to source SMT materials, ensuring cost efficiency and quality.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 5-10 years of experience in SMT manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Proficiency in SMT equipment programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, automation, and process optimization.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
