Job description

This role is responsible for managing the entire SMT process, from stencil printing to reflow soldering and inspection, while driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage SMT manufacturing processes, including stencil printing, pick-and- place, reflow soldering, AOI and SPI.
  • Ensure efficient PCB assembly, including through-hole and mixed-technology assembly, conformal coating, and soldering techniques.
  • Optimize OEE by reducing defects, improving yield, and enhancing line efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis on SMT defects (e.g., tombstoning, solder bridging, voids).
  • Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001, ISO 9001, and other quality standards.
  • Oversee SMT machine operations, including (eg. Fuji, Yamaha, ASM, Panasonic, SMT lines, reflow ovens, and wave soldering equipment.
  • Manage Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor and control production.
  • Lead and mentor SMT engineers, technicians, and operators, fostering technical growth and innovation.
  • Collaborate with design, production, quality, and supply chain teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Set KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma (5S, Kaizen, DMAIC) principles.
  • Oversee NPI processes, ensuring smooth transitions from prototype to mass production.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to source SMT materials, ensuring cost efficiency and quality.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in SMT manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Proficiency in SMT equipment programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, automation, and process optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
