Job summary

Renesas Kulim is seeking an Automation Engineer to lead and support industrial automation initiatives as part of our Industry 4.0 journey in Kedah.

You will develop and optimize SECS/GEM integrations, AMR and robotics, RPA, and Zen Systems, collaborating with Production, Engineering, and IT to boost productivity and quality.

Strong learning agility and ownership are valued as you troubleshoot, document, and implement smart automation solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Automation or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience in industrial automation, system integration, and manufacturing automation.
• Proficiency in programming or scripting (Python, C#, SQL, Java, etc.).
• Experience with SECS/GEM, AMR, robotics, or RPA is preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and independent working skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain factory automation solutions to improve productivity.
• Support SECS/GEM integration and system connectivity across equipment and hosts.
• Design and deploy AMR, robotic arms, and material handling systems.
• Develop and support RPA, Zen Systems, and server-based apps to streamline workflows.
• Troubleshoot automation systems and drive continuous improvement with cross-functional teams.
• Provide after-hours support to minimize manufacturing disruption.
• Prepare and maintain documentation and reports.

• Experience or exposure to SECS/GEM, AMR, robotics, RPA, or Smart Factory technologies is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Self-motivated, committed, and eager to learn new technologies, with strong teamwork and communication skills.
