Job summary

LWE Engineering Sdn Bhd in Penang is seeking a Safety Officer to develop and implement site safety policies and oversee risk assessments across projects. You will inspect sites, identify hazards, and ensure compliance with local and national safety regulations.

You will conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and investigations into accidents, while maintaining HIRARC and PTW documentation. The role requires communication, reporting, and training skills, with travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Environment, Safety, and Health (ESH) or related field.
• Valid Yellow Book certification issued by the relevant authority.
• Certification in Safety Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Construction Industry.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to conduct training sessions.
• Possess a valid Accreditation.
• Willing to travel and work at project sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement site safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety regulations.
• Conduct safety induction and toolbox talk.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Participate in the preparation and review of HIRARC documentation.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system and related safety requirements.
• Prepare safety reports and maintain documentation.
• Monitor use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Coordinate emergency response drills and procedures.
• Liaise with authorities, clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure smooth coordination of inspections and timely approval of works.
• Promote safety awareness among employees.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management.
