To ensure that all construction site activities comply with the Occupational Safety & Health Act, Factories & Machinery Act, CIDB requirement and DOSH regulations. The Site Safety Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and enforcing safe work practices to prevent accidents and injuries at the construction site.
Responsibilities
- enforce compliance with safety rules, regulations and statutory requirements
- conduct daily inspections of work areas, equipment and practices to identify hazards
- ensure all workers and visitors comply with the use of PPE
- maintain and update site safety records, permits, checklists and reports
- assist the Safety & Health Officer in preparing the Site Safety & Health Plan
- record and report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and non-compliance issues
- conduct toolbox meetings and site safety briefings for workers and subcontractors
- carry out safety induction for new workers, visitors and subcontractor
- promote safety culture and awareness campaigns on site
- report, record and assist in investigating accidents, incidents or near misses
- provide first response in emergencies and coordinate with emergency services
- support the Safety & Health Officer in preparing accident reports for submission to authorities
- liaise with the Project Manager, Site Engineers, subcontractors and consultants on safety matters
- participate in site safety audits and inspections conducted by DOSH, CIDB and clients
- support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- monitor the progress of the various safety activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with all the sub-teams and ensure minutes are prepared, circulated to team members and properly filed
- ensure projects and ISO documents are submitted to the Secretary of Project Implementation on daily/weekly basis where applicable
