Shariah Compliance (Assistant Manager)

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform review and Shariah related assessments for BAU activities including, but not limited to, product development, projects, initiatives, ad hoc requests from business units/regulators, management of Shariah Non-Compliance events, regulatory change reviews, Compliance Risk Assessments, Yearly Annual Planning, involvement in Self Operational Risk Assessments, BNM attestation, etc.
  • Report updates related to Shariah Compliance to the local management committee, Shariah Committee, Audit Committee, Board, and Regional/Group Compliance.
  • Perform Shariah assurance activities based on the annual Shariah Compliance Plan.
  • Support the Compliance team in preparing Continuous Improvement projects/initiatives and ad-hoc projects, up to the date of implementation.
  • Identify and engage with internal stakeholders to understand functional mandates and ensure their involvement in relevant matters.
  • Ensure relevant stakeholders are informed, understand, and support Compliance activities and priorities.
  • Share assurance activities’ results, agree on actions with management and stakeholders, and follow up on improvement actions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the insurance or Takaful industry, with a focus on Shariah compliance.
