Primary Objective:
Provide leadership for the Mainframe System Services Section with respect to:
- System related technical matters
- System availability and online uptime within agreed SLA/OLA
- Day-to-day system operations
- Planning and implementation of new products
- Enhancement and improvement of the system
- Staff personnel relations and development
- Managing section budget
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the team on technical support for all software and hardware under Core Banking Services Administration (Mainframe) to ensure 24/7 availability
- Perform yearly budgeting by forecasting capacity growth to guide technology refresh, contract renewals, and transformation aligned with Group IT strategy
- Manage and monitor annual CAPEX and OPEX budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness and compliance with cost-saving initiatives
- Collaborate with department heads to establish objectives and KPIs for team members for continuous service and technical improvement
- Oversee activities related to installation, monitoring, customization, tuning, configuration, support, and maintenance of Mainframe and third-party products (e.g., ZEKE, ZARA, LCM, Mobius, tape libraries, backup appliances/software, and new initiatives)
- Ensure 24x7 on-call support as part of rotating team coverage for system anomalies escalated by operations and users
- Recommend hardware architecture, design, and implementation improvements in collaboration with Head of Core System Management to enhance efficiency, resiliency, and scalability
- Ensure all activities follow checklists, SOPs, and comply with bank policies and procedures for daily operations and support
- Manage disaster recovery planning and testing to meet regulatory requirements and RTO/RPO targets
- Lead Mainframe projects or initiatives, capable of managing small to medium-scale projects
- Adhere to change management and quality control processes to prevent disruptions impacting system availability and customer business
- Address incidents, outages, and troubleshooting in accordance with ITSM framework and ISO/IEC 20000 standards
- Perform capacity planning, trending, and asset management for Core Banking Services components in line with ISO/IEC 20000
- Manage incident resolution to minimize customer impact through fixes, workarounds, or temporary solutions
- Stay updated on new technologies and solutions relevant to Core Banking System to keep storage environment current
- Maintain extensive knowledge of industry developments, bank products, and market trends through continuous learning
- Coordinate hardware replacements and upgrades with vendors under technology refresh initiatives
- Manage compliance audits and ensure documentation quality for Mainframe architecture and inventory
- Lead migration efforts to address Group IT obsolescence policies
- Oversee hardware/software installation, customization, monitoring, and support aligned with IT transformation initiatives
- Ensure contingency plans are adequate and effective
- Provide prompt IT support and maintenance to ensure operational excellence
Requirements:
- Minimum diploma or degree in Information Technology or related field
- At least 7 years supporting and operating group IT infrastructure
- Advanced knowledge of IBM system z OS, architecture, and design
- Expertise in Host LPAR design and High Availability configurations
- Knowledge of Mainframe components such as CICS, NETWORK, VTAM, STORAGE, z/OS, and related products (ZEKE, MOBIUS, CCLCM, CODEC, MFE, ZARA, Tape Backup Systems)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across organizational levels
