Job summary

Grab is seeking a Security Engineer (Detection Engineering) to research and build new detection capabilities with a focus on EKS, AI/agent security, and autonomous vehicle platforms. The role is hands-on and engineering-heavy, combining threat research with security operations.

This is an onsite role based at our Petaling Jaya office. You will collaborate with threat intel, incident responders, and multiple platform teams to turn incidents into proactive detections and improve coverage.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with at least one cloud platform (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Hands-on security response experience (SOC, DFIR) in operational environments.
• Direct experience working with SIEM, EDR and SOAR platforms.
• Coding skills in Python or Go for detection logic and automation.
• Strong SQL skills for large security datasets.
• Experience tuning detection rules across log sources.
• Experience using AI.

Responsibilities

• Research new detections and translate attacker TTPs into detection opportunities.
• Build, test, and deploy detection logic across SIEM, EDR, SOAR with CI/CD.
• Lead the detection lifecycle: backlog grooming, tuning, and coverage improvements.
• Support incident response and provide guidance for triage and actions.
• Produce high-quality detection documentation and present alerts to Cyber Defence.
