Job summary

Teradyne Malaysia is seeking an experienced Test Engineer to support contract manufacturing partners in Penang. You will debug PCBA issues, drive root-cause analyses, and coordinate with Design, Hardware, Process, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to improve test outcomes and production yields.

Responsibilities include on-site support, CAPA implementation, NPI transfers, and mentoring contract manufacturers in debugging methods and test procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in manufacturing, operations, engineering, supply chain, or NPI program management.
• Strong experience in PCBA debugging, manufacturing test development, and yield improvement.
• Proven ability to perform failure analysis and drive corrective actions in high-volume manufacturing.
• Experience with manufacturing test systems, production troubleshooting, and product qualification activities.
• Familiarity with NPI transfers, component qualification, and test process validation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with structured root-cause investigation approach.
• Excellent communication skills across global and cross-functional teams.
• Experience with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
• Ability to analyze manufacturing metrics and drive data-driven improvements.
• Strong documentation and technical writing skills for test procedures, ECNs, reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite test engineering support at contract manufacturing facilities in Penang.
• Debug PCBAs and perform root cause analysis on test failures, yield losses, and design issues.
• Collaborate with Design, Hardware, Process, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve challenges.
• Partner with contract manufacturers to identify process deviations and improve yields.
• Monitor and analyze yields, test performance, failure rates, MTBF, and recurring failure patterns.
• Support NPI transfers, component qualification, and software qualification processes at sites.
• Train and mentor contract manufacturing personnel on debugging and test procedures.
• Assess and qualify new components and suppliers for testability and reliability.
• Lead technical discussions with US and Costa Rica teams to resolve complex issues.
• Develop, maintain, and update test procedures and deviation documentation.
