Summary

The Senior System Engineer is responsible for design, maintaining and supporting the server infrastructure that supports critical Data Center Building Systems, including Building Management System (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) and Access Controls. This role ensures high availability, performance and compliance of all supported systems server infrastructure, virtualization platforms, storage systems and backup solutions through proactive monitoring, maintenance and collaboration with cross-functional facility teams.

Job Responsibilities:

Data Center Infrastructure Support:

  • Maintain, configure and support servers that powering critical data center building systems (e.g., BMS, EPMS, Security Access Control).
  • Monitor server health and system performance to ensure uptime and reliability for critical building systems.
  • Perform routine server maintenance, including patching, updates and backups, with a focus on minimizing disruptions to critical operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues affecting data center building management systems.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and support during scheduled maintenance or emergency situations.

System Administration and Monitoring:

  • Administer Windows Server and Linux environments and related server applications.
  • Utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential server issues.
  • Implement and manage server security measures (e.g., patch management, access controls) to protect critical building management systems.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation on configurations, changes and standard operating procedures.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with data center facility management, electrical and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration of server systems with building infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for server hardware and software support.
  • Participate in incident response and emergency procedures related to data center building management systems.
  • Participate in capacity planning, in regard to server hardware and software, to ensure the data centers building systems can meet demands.

Data Center Specific Duties:

  • Rack, stack, and maintain physical server hardware in compliance with cabling and layout standards.
  • Cable management within the data center environment.
  • Maintain accurate asset tracking of server hardware, software and overall lifecycle management.
  • Adhere strictly to data center safety, access control and security compliance policies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as a Server/System Administrator in a data center environment, critical facilities environment or IT Infrastructure role.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Proven experience in virtualization, storage and backup platforms.
  • Familiarity with data center building management systems (BMS, EPMS) is a strong advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware, including rack-mounted servers and related components.
  • Working knowledge of compliance standards and operation adherence (ISO, PCI, SOC, etc)
