We are currently seeking a structural / FEM engineer to strengthen our Temporary Steel Design team.

Role Overview

As a structural engineer, your focus will be on preparing and creating FEA models for temporary steel structures used in maritime operations. You will perform FEA calculations related to foundations, beam models, strength, fatigue, buckling, and stiffness, and will check and adapt the structures and designs accordingly.

You will collaborate closely with the project teams at Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam, who provide initial concepts, as well as engineers responsible for detailed modeling.

While your primary focus is on Structural Engineering, experience with design and 3D/2D software is advantageous. The projects involve client-specific offshore operations, including design for seafastening, grillages, and bladeracks.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare and create FEA models
2. Perform FEA calculations related to foundations, beam models, strength, etc.
3. Check and adapt structures and designs based on your calculations
4. Coordinate structural work with the Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam team

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Naval Architecture, Maritime Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in structural engineering within the maritime industry
• Knowledge of software such as Ansys, Femap, or RFEM
• Flexible and proactive attitude
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
