Aurelius Hospital Negeri Sembilan is hiring a Senior Staff Nurse / Staff Nurse for the Medical Surgical Ward. The role involves managing patient care, ensuring safety and compliance with clinical procedures, and providing guidance to junior staff. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic healthcare environment.
1. Management of department to ensure efficient and effective daily operational activities:-
• Respond to changing activity & patient dependency by optimum management of available resources.
• Perform patient assessment and anticipate potential risk & execute appropriate action to ensure patient
safety.
• Demonstrate operational knowledge of nursing procedures.
• Assisting unit manager and act as a preceptor to provide orientation to new staff according to the
orientation programmes.
2. Planning & managing of patient care in the department to fulfil and exceed customer satisfaction:-
• Perform or carry out nursing care according to hospital’s Policies and Procedures.
• Demonstrate effective and empathetic communication and collaboration with all parties concerned to ensure the best clinical outcome for the customer.
• Address customer’s complaints professionally and promptly.
• Ensure an effective handover of all duties and required patients’ information at shift changeover.
• Ensure doctor’s orders are carried out; clarify areas of uncertainty and in any dispute regarding clinical management, to refer matter to relevant consultant.
• Liaise with healthcare members to ensure appropriate patient care.
• Ensure legibility/accuracy/completion of patient’s medical records, charts and all other relevant documents within the stipulated time frame.
3. Providing safe and effective nursing services to customers in order to achieve customer satisfaction:-
• Ensure completion of all competencies and orientation checklist within stipulated time frame.
• To follow the standards & quality in nursing care and service.
• Ensure continuous enrichment of knowledge for personal and professional development by actively participate via in-service and other educational programmers.
4. Provide supervision and guidance towards junior nurses to ensure high standard of nursing care:-
• Undertake the supervision of newly qualified nurses.
• Assist with the orientation of new members of staff.
• Delegate assignments according to the ability and needs of the junior staff.
5. Provide patient and family members’ health education:-
• Assess situations for need of information or support to maintain health and safety.
• Implement teaching plans that are specific to the patient’s level of development and knowledge.
• Supports and reinforce the teaching plans of the other health professional.
• Include the family members into the care of the patients when providing health education to gain co-operation and better outcome.
6. Maintain a safe, therapeutic and condusive environment:-
• Responsible for the cleanliness and up keeping of the department, furniture and fittings.
• Ensure the use of equipment is according to the instruction and recommended safe practices.
• Ensure the appropriate level of noise is maintained within the department to promote healing for the patients.
• Promote and maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for all patients.
• Responsible for total patient care, including medication, orders and treatments.
• Assists the physicians in performing any procedures.
• Responds immediately in emergency situation. Participates in or initiates CPR and Codes when necessary.
• Accepts responsibilities delegated by the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse and evaluates the nursing care provided in the area assigned.
• Provides leadership in the interpretation and application of the philosophy and objective of nursing service in assigned area.
• Performs patient care within the principles of Nursing team, reporting pertinent observations or complaints to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse.
• Maintain the patient’s clinical records. Keep all information of patients in the strictest confidence.
• Administer medications according to hospital policy.
• Attend and support education programs.
• Key in charges for nursing procedures/medical supplies and medications accurately and in timely manner.
• Participate in departmental initiative /project for continuous improvement.
• Responsible to achieve departmental KPI.
• Perform hospital wide audit as assigned by Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse.
• Report any incident within stipulated time.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse.
