The ams OSRAM Opto Semiconductors business offers high-performance opto semiconductor components and in-depth support for state-of-the-art system solutions based on innovative semiconductor light sources. The Business Unit can look back on almost fifty years of production and development expertise.
Your new responsibilities
1. System Design & Development:
- Design and develop advanced LED solutions incorporating the latest IC innovations for various lighting applications
- Develop and integrate hardware components such as LED modules, ICs (e.g., LED drivers, controllers), sensor and power supplies.
- Work with cutting-edge technologies in LED integration, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and reliability.
- Develop firmware for controlling and optimizing the operation of LED systems, ensuring compatibility with new IC technologies.
- Develop software for LED control, including embedded software, communication protocols, and user interfaces.
- Perform system architecture design for integrated hardware-software solutions.
2. PCB Design & Integration:
- Design and develop PCBs for LED systems, focusing on signal integrity, power distribution, and thermal management.
- Use CAD software (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, potentially Eagle) to create detailed PCB layouts, ensuring optimal design for high-frequency, high-efficiency LED systems.
- Perform PCB simulations and design rule checks (DRC) to ensure the manufacturability and reliability of designs.
- Collaborate with the hardware team to ensure seamless integration of LED modules and ICs within the PCB design.
3. Hardware-Software Integration:
- Lead the integration of hardware (LED modules, drivers, ICs) with software solutions to create fully functional LED systems.
- Develop software algorithms for controlling LED based on application needs.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to develop embedded software for LED control, including communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, CAN/CAN-FD.
4. Testing, Debugging, & Optimization:
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of LED systems, focusing on hardware-software integration, IC functionality, and overall system performance.
- Identify and troubleshoot both hardware and software issues, ensuring high-quality and reliable LED solutions.
- Optimize designs for power efficiency, performance, and cost, ensuring that all systems meet industry standards.
- Ability to automate test cases with MATLAB, Python or even VHDL.
5. Customer and Partner Collaboration and Requirements Engineering:
- Work closely with internal teams and customers to understand specific requirements and develop system solutions.
- Provide technical support to customers, offering troubleshooting.
- Knowledge in the method of Requirements Engineering and corresponding tools like DOORS or Codebeamer.
6. Continuous Improvement & R&D:
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in LED technology, integrated circuits, and PCB design.
- Contribute to the research and development of new LED technologies, driving innovation in areas like smart lighting, and adaptive lighting systems.
- Suggest improvements to existing designs, incorporating new IC/sensor technologies or design methodologies to improve product performance.
7. Documentation & Reporting:
- Create detailed technical documentation, including PCB designs, software code, and system specifications.
- Familiarized with documentation tools and methods like GitHub and Jira.
Profile description:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or related fields.
- 5 Years experience and above in Engineering.
- Proven experience in LED system design, including both hardware and software components.
- Hands-on experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and programming languages (C, C++, Python, etc.).
- Experience with power electronics and LED driver design.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN(-FD).
- Experience in software tools for hardware design (e.g., PCB design, simulation tools).
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits and LED-based technologies.
- Proficiency in embedded programming and software development for LED systems.
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, ZUKKEN, Eagle) for circuit design.
- Knowledge of control software development for LED displays, lighting systems, or related applications.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to debug both hardware and software issues.
- Experience with advanced LED technologies like smart lighting. Knowledge of energy-efficient designs and sustainability practices in LED technology.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and clients.
