Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated and technically skilled Senior Staff Application Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be a key technical interface between the local application engineering team and the global Technical Marketing and Product Line Management teams. You will validate and benchmark Infineon's power semiconductor solutions in real-world applications such as AI servers, EV charging systems, solar inverters, and consumer electronics, ensuring superior performance and competitiveness. You will also lead technical development initiatives, support go-to-market strategies, and mentor local engineers in technical and personal growth.

Job Description

In your new role, you will:

1. Act as the main technical support for the Technical Marketing team in Austria to validate product value propositions in customer systems during development projects.
2. Serve as the local spokesperson to the product line management.
3. Measure Infineon components as well as perform competitor benchmarking in SMPS for AI/Servers/Telecom, EV on-board and off-board chargers, residential solar inverters, energy storage, home appliances, and chargers and adapters.
4. Drive tests of leading-edge and novel devices on specially designed boards to support the development and optimization of new technologies.
5. Create new application test setups (e.g., design of application test boards), including PCB design and test automation.
6. Support go-to-market activities and product development.
7. Provide guidance for your local peers, in both technical and personal development.
8. Organize and analyze data locally and generate test reports.
9. Contribute to peer reviews of internal development documents.
10. Interface with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues requiring in-depth product knowledge.
11. Actively engage with the Technical Marketing team to explore new technologies and cost-effective designs to achieve competitive advantages.

Your Profile

You are best equipped for this role if you have:

1. A degree from a university, university of applied sciences, or technical school in Electrical Engineering or a comparable field.
2. 5+ years of proven hands-on work experience in an electrical engineering laboratory environment, including using lab equipment.
3. Basic knowledge of semiconductors, especially Power MOSFETs, is preferable.
4. Experience in analysis of measurement data, documentation, and presentation of results for internal stakeholders.
5. The capability to work independently and provide guidance and technical training to team members.
6. Basic programming skills, e.g., MATLAB or Python.
7. PCB design skills (e.g., Allegro, Altium Designer) and the ability to understand and review existing layouts are a plus.
8. Proficiency in MS Office tools.
