Job summary

Randstad Malaysia seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Android Platform) in Kuala Lumpur to shape the mobile architecture across APAC. Qualifications

• Significant commercial experience developing native Android applications.
• Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK and modular architecture.
• Experience with XML layouts and legacy code maintenance.
• Knowledge of mobile CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple engineering teams and domains.
• Experience designing/evolving platform SDKs and developer tools.
• Background in modernization of Android architecture and navigation upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve architecture patterns, platform capabilities, and benchmarks for Android apps.
• Deliver reusable components, shared SDKs, and platform frameworks using Kotlin/Jetpack Compose.
• Support Android upgrades, navigation library updates, and legacy XML modernization.
• Improve local developer experience with tooling, docs, and migration guides.
• Partner with product, iOS, and distributed teams on shared AI initiatives.
• Coach engineers and raise Android engineering standards across teams.

Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Android Platform) based in Kuala Lumpur to shape and evolve the technical direction of their mobile architecture across the Asia-Pacific region. Combining hands-on native Android development with strategic platform thinking, this role focuses on driving developer productivity, architecture modernization, reusable shared libraries, AI enablement initiatives, and overall developer experience.

key responsibilities include

• Defining and evolving standard architecture patterns, platform capabilities, reference implementations, and technical benchmarks across Android applications.

• Designing, delivering, and maintaining reusable Android components, shared SDKs, and platform frameworks using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.

• Supporting Android architecture upgrades, navigation library updates, and legacy XML layout modernization.

• Streamlining the local developer experience through Android Studio configurations, development tooling, sample apps, documentation, and migration guides.

• Partnering with product domain teams, iOS engineering counterparts, and distributed teams in Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne on shared initiatives and AI enablement.

• Coaching and mentoring engineers, participating in communities of practice, and elevating overall Android engineering standards.
