Get to Know the Role

MALTA operates based on key principles: pursuing and adopting scalable and intentional mobile architectures, consolidating reusable software assets, automation, and pushing for continuous delivery across all Grab mobile apps. You will report to the Software Engineering Manager II, Mobile.

This role is onsite at our Petaling Jaya, Malaysia office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Develop Android SDKs, ensuring high quality.
• Collaborate with teams to identify project requirements and develop suitable solutions.
• Create technical documentation, including code comments, architecture diagrams, and guides.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues using debugging tools and techniques.
• Stay updated with the latest Android development trends and incorporate them to improve processes and product quality.

The Additional Responsibilities

• Develop next-generation mobile application frameworks and components.
• Establish common mobile architecture and methodologies.
• Build features to enhance the mobile developer experience.
• Ensure rapid and secure app delivery via CI pipelines, tooling, and processes.
• Own projects from design to deployment, collaborating with engineers, product managers, and designers.

The Essential Skills

• At least four to five years of Android development experience with multiple published apps.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and understanding of the Android SDK.
• Familiarity with tools like Git and Jenkins.
• Knowledge of Android design patterns, usability, performance, and security principles.
• Ability to work in an Agile environment and adapt quickly.
• Experience with Flutter and Bazel is a plus.
• Understanding of SOLID principles, mobile architecture, and design patterns.
• Ability to document, articulate, and present solutions effectively.
