Job Scope
The Security Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s security management system and related procedures. This role ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations and standards, promotes a culture of security and safety, and mitigates security risks associated with the company’s operations. The officer will also lead and/or participate in initiatives to improve security and emergency response performance and drive continuous improvement across the organization.
Detailed Responsibilities
Manage contract security team & services to deliver the following:
1. Surveillance and Monitoring
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises to maintain order, establish presence as well as detect and address security risks.
- Monitor surveillance equipment (CCTV), fire detection and alarm systems for any irregular activity. Respond accordingly.
- Secure all exits, doors and windows at all times.
- Report and respond to suspicious behaviour, unauthorized access, or breaches.
- Monitor, respond and report anomalies with potential HSSE impact.
- Assist and support HSE related activities such as drug & alcohol screening, fatigue management implementation, safety campaigns, etc.
2. Access Control
- Develop procedure and work process for managing access control for personnel and vehicles.
- Manage, facilitate and monitor control of personnel into the facility (staff, contractors, visitors, etc.)
- Verify identification of individuals entering restricted areas.
- Operate security screening equipment as needed.
- Maintain logs of personnel, visitors, and vehicle entries.
- Assist with weighbridge and truck gantry operations.
- Enforce traffic control within the facility and its vicinity (in collaboration with port authority and neighbouring facilities).
- Remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the facility, or as directed by the management.
3. Incident Response
- Act promptly in emergencies, including fire, medical incidents, or security breaches.
- Collaborate with port authority, law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical personnel when necessary.
- Provide first aid or CPR if trained and required.
- Lead or participate in related investigations.
4. External Party Engagement
- Maintain good working relationship with external stakeholder focal persons such as port authority, local security enforcement agencies, fence-line neighbours, etc.
- Assist other internal focal persons in establishing and maintaining external stakeholder relations.
5. Documentation and Reporting
- Develop a fit-for-purpose security management system and procedures.
- Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences.
- Maintain detailed incident reports and logs of daily activities.
- Carry out any ad-hoc tasks as directed by superior or management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Diploma in a related field.
- More than 7 years of relevant work experience, preferably with involvement in manufacturing industries or equivalent.
- Knowledgeable on local laws, requirements and standards regarding security and related subjects.
- Experience in implementation of relevant HSE requirements is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage security teams and pertinent stakeholders.
- Experience in writing policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Proficient in spoken and written Bahasa Malaysia and English.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
