Job description

As a Senior Enterprise Technology Engineer (Field Logistics) is a critical role responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, and support of SAP Field Logistics solutions, primarily focusing on the integration with other relevant SAP modules (e.g. MM, P2P, FICO). This role requires deep expertise in SAP S/4 Field Logistics processes, standard methodologies, and integration points, as well as strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. This role will work closely with business users, technical teams, and external consultants to ensure that the SAP S/4 Field Logistics solution meets the organization’s business needs and is aligned with its overall technology strategy.

You will work with

This role collaborates closely with the Business Teams, ERP Sustain & Operations Team, and the ERP Transformation Programme to build and implement outstanding SAP S/4 Field Logistics solutions. It works alongside business team members, enterprise architects, functional consultants, and third‑party vendors to develop and integrate the solution. It also works within the Technology DevOps Team and is encouraged to collaborate with geographically dispersed team members, including Global Functional and Technical Product Managers and Owners, and to collaborate with wider teams within Technology.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the build and configuration of SAP S/4 Field Logistics solutions, including defining organizational structures, customizing functionalities, and configuring integrations with other SAP modules. Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Analyze and understand business requirements related to field logistics processes, translate them into functional specifications, and propose solutions within the SAP Field Logistics framework. Identify areas for process improvement and optimisation.
  • Lead SAP Field Logistics implementation projects, including project planning, testing, training, launch support, cut‑over activities, and post‑implementation support.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to SAP Field Logistics, working closely with technical teams and SAP support. Perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and optimise SAP Field Logistics processes and functionalities, propose enhancements, and implement approved changes. Stay up to date with SAP standard methodologies and new features.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of SAP Field Logistics configurations, processes, and user manuals.
  • Share knowledge and guidelines related to SAP Field Logistics with other team members and business users. Mentor junior team members.
  • Collaborate reliably with business users, IT teams, and external consultants to ensure detailed integration and support of SAP S/4 Field Logistics solutions.
What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)
  • Demonstrable ability to analyse and optimise business processes related to field logistics.
  • Deep understanding and hands‑on experience with SAP Field Logistics, IS‑Oil RLM, Materials Management and Inventory Management modules, including configuration, customisation, and integration.
  • Experience in field service operations, service parts management, mobile workforce support, logistics coordination, reverse logistics, and field inventory management.
  • Consulting experience, ideally within a Big‑4 or similar consulting firm, including client interaction, requirements gathering, and project delivery.
  • Deep understanding of the specific industry the client operates in (e.g. Oil & Gas, utilities, retail) to tailor solutions.
  • Demonstrable project leadership, including planning, execution, budget control, and stakeholder communication.
  • Proven understanding of how SAP MM/IM integrates with other relevant modules (e.g. PM, FI/CO) and other systems.
  • Understanding of organisational change principles and experience supporting change initiatives.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands‑on experience in SAP Remote Logistics Management and/or SAP S/4 Field Logistics configuration and implementation.

If field logistics expertise is not available, candidates must demonstrate equivalent hands‑on experience in IS‑Oil Remote Logistics Management.

  • Proficiency in secondary modules is required, including:
  • Extended Warehouse Management (EWM)
  • Materials Management (MM)
  • Quality Management (QM)
  • Integration into Plant Maintenance, Finance/Controlling, and SAP Business Network

This is a functional role that demands significant hands‑on experience across all listed modules.

Skills that set you apart
  • Other certifications related to supply chain management, logistics, or project management (e.g., CSCP, PMP) can be beneficial.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science.
  • SAP S/4 Field Logistics configuration and implementation experience for Upstream O&G and Refineries.
  • SAP experience in Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) industry.
  • Project management experience delivering IT‑led projects.
  • Broad experience designing, planning, implementing, maintaining, and documenting services and solutions.
  • Exposure to large‑scale SAP ERP migrations and enhancements.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries such as energy, finance, or manufacturing.
