Job description

Ambu is currently looking for a R&D Lab Technician to be based in Penang, Malaysia.

This position reports to the R&D Lab Engineering Section Manager. If you have experience in test & verification within the medical device industry, this position may be suitable for you.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain test equipment functionality, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and coordinate calibration.
• Troubleshoot and repair machines, auxiliary equipment, and handle installation and modification works.
• Coordinate and provide 3D printing services for projects.
• Support engineers in designing tools, jigs & equipment, and conducting product testing, measurements, and data collection.
• Source parts, components, materials, and equipment from contractors. Support purchasing and logistics activities for the R&D department.
• Ensure accurate documentation in the Agile PLM database.
• Conduct daily 5S laboratory audits and recommend improvements for equipment management.
• Execute laboratory tests, ensuring data accuracy and integrity to maintain product safety and efficacy.
• Lead or assist in daily lab verification, engineering activities, and operational improvements.

Candidate Profile & Skills

• A Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related engineering fields.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in equipment setup and maintenance.
• Practical knowledge of mechanical (tensile machines, optical measurement systems, torque testers, 3D printing, robotics) and electronic equipment.
• Experience in equipment management and calibration.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair machines and auxiliary equipment, including installation and modifications.
• Good documentation practices, maintaining test data accuracy and integrity.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
