Senior QA Executive (Food Manufacturing)

The Senior QA Executive is responsible for leading the quality assurance function to ensure compliance with food safety, GMP, HACCP, HALAL, and regulatory requirements. This role involves supervising QA executives/assistants, enhancing traceability systems, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement in product quality, documentation, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities
  • Quality System & Compliance — Oversee implementation and maintenance of GMP, HACCP, HALAL, DVS and MOH requirements.
  • Lead internal audits, prepare corrective action reports (CARs), and follow up closure with relevant departments.
  • Liaise with government authorities (KKM, DVS, DOSH, etc.) and external certification bodies during inspections and audits.
  • Review and update BOM LIST, MASTER FORMULATION, OVERVIEW, SOPs, WIs, and QA manuals regularly.
  • Experienced in applying for and coordinating certification processes for new factory setup (HACCP, HALAL, GMP, etc.), including documentation preparation, application submission, and audit readiness.
  • Laboratory & Testing Oversight — Supervise and review lab report management (microbiology, heavy metals, shelf-life tests, etc.).
  • Validate third-party laboratory results and ensure accuracy before customer release.
  • Establish and monitor in-house organoleptic & sensory evaluation programs.
  • Approve product release based on COA verification and customer specifications.
  • Traceability & Documentation — Strengthen and monitor end-to-end traceability systems from raw material to finished goods.
  • Ensure accurate coding, sample tracking, and documentation for customer samples, R&D trials, and production runs.
  • Maintain MSDS database and ensure compliance for all packaging and raw materials.
  • In-Process & Finished Goods Quality — Lead in-line QC monitoring at production floor; identify deviations and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
  • Approve or reject batches based on non-conformance investigation.
  • Monitor foreign material controls, sealing integrity, and packaging quality standards.
  • Implement statistical quality control tools (SPC, trend analysis, defect rate tracking).
  • Supervise QA executives, assistants, and lab staff; assign tasks and monitor performance.
  • Conduct training for staff on HACCP, GMP, and food safety awareness.
  • Mentor junior QA staff, developing their technical and documentation skills.
  • Lead QA involvement in lean manufacturing & Kaizen projects to reduce defects and improve yield.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Propose improvements in production, packaging, and testing processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Biotechnology or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years QA/QC experience in food manufacturing, with exposure to audits and certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, HALAL, and food safety regulations.
  • Proven track record in applying for and obtaining certifications for new factories/projects (HACCP, GMP, HALAL, etc.).
  • Proficient in data analysis, documentation, and reporting (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication in English, Malay, and Mandarin.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and cross-functionally with Production, R&D, Procurement, and external stakeholders.
