Responsibilities
- Source and negotiate with local and international suppliers to obtain the most competitive pricing, terms, and conditions.
- Manage the end-to-end purchasing process, from issuing purchase orders (POs) to monitoring delivery timelines, ensuring timely availability of materials.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., production, planning, engineering, QA/QC) to understand procurement requirements and ensure alignment.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, and process improvements.
- Maintain and regularly update the purchasing database, supplier profiles, and material master data in SAP.
- Conduct quarterly evaluations of supplier performance, addressing issues related to quality, delivery, and service.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures, and procurement best practices.
- Support and ensure proper documentation and process flow in line with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Prepare, submit, and manage applications to government and regulatory bodies, including:
- SIRIM – Product certification, testing reports, labeling requirements
- Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) – Certificate of Approval (COA) for electrical products
- Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) – Device certifications
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Authority
- Authorized to issue Purchase Orders and update Material Master Data.
- Manage logistics and shipping arrangements from PO issuance to arrival at warehouse or project site.
- Follow up and coordinate the collection and verification of Delivery Orders (DOs) and related documents.
Requirements
- Education: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of working experience in a purchasing / procurement role, preferably in a manufacturing, trading, or electronics/electrical industry.
- Technical Skills: SAP System; Good understanding of ERP systems and procurement workflows; Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant MS Office tools.
- Language: Proficiency in Mandarin (spoken and written) is essential for communication with China-based suppliers
