Qualifications

Senior Project Manager – TNB Substation Project

Company: TransSystem Continental Sdn Bhd
EITA Resources acquired a 60% stake in TransSystem Continental Sdn Bhd (TS) on 2016. TS was previously incorporated on 8th April 2009 under the Malaysia Company Act,1995.
TSC is run by a dedicated team of experienced and qualified engineers and technicians, most of whom have more than 20 years of hands-on experience in the field of electricity generation, transmission, distribution and utilisation. Our specialty is in the implementation electrical substation ranging from LV to EHV up to 500KV.
In addition, we are also involved in the local manufacturing of Control Protection relay panels, Marshalling Kiosk, Metering Panels and related equipment to complement primary substation implementation business.

Why this role?

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the successful execution of TNB substation projects, ensuring that all deliverables meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives. This role involves managing the project from design through to commissioning, including coordination with stakeholders, supervision of project teams, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Job Description

Lead and manage the end-to-end execution of TNB substation projects, including civil, electrical, and mechanical works.

Develop and execute project plans, budgets, and schedules while adhering to TNB and industry standards.

Lead project teams, ensuring effective collaboration and communication across various departments, contractors, and stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management:

Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders including TNB, contractors, consultants, and government authorities.

Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and all parties are aligned on project progress.

Contract Management:

Review and negotiate contracts, ensuring terms and conditions meet project objectives.

Monitor contract execution, identify risks, and take corrective actions as necessary to stay within budget and schedule.

Project Scheduling & Budgeting:

Develop detailed project schedules and ensure timely completion of milestones.

Oversee the management of project budgets, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources and cost controls to prevent budget overruns.

Proactively identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity.

Monitor and report project performance, highlighting potential issues to management and proposing solutions.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety:

Ensure the project complies with all relevant Malaysian standards, TNB’s technical specifications, and local safety regulations.

Promote a culture of safety on-site, ensuring that contractors and teams adhere to safety protocols.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure that the construction and commissioning of substations are carried out with the highest standards of quality.

Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify quality control processes.

Reporting & Documentation:

Prepare and deliver regular progress reports to senior management, TNB, and other stakeholders.

Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, permits, reports, and project correspondence.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in managing large-scale infrastructure or power-related projects, with at least 5 years in the execution of substation projects for TNB or similar utilities.

Proven track record of successfully delivering substation projects (132kV, 275kV, or 500kV) from inception to completion.

Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.

Expertise in managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors.

Solid understanding of TNB’s technical specifications and regulatory requirements in Malaysia.

Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Bahasa Malaysia and English.

PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is highly preferred.

Familiarity with substation design software and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is an advantage.

Work Environment:
The Senior Project Manager will be based in HQ and will frequently visit project sites within West Malaysia, ensuring close oversight of project execution.
