A leading company in renewable energy is seeking a Project Manager/Senior Project Manager to lead large solar projects across Peninsular Malaysia. The ideal candidate will have extensive project management experience, especially with LSS projects, and a solid educational background in engineering. This role involves engaging with various regulatory bodies and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and standards while driving cost efficiency and quality control.

about the job
Lead end-to-end delivery of Large Scale Solar (LSS) projects, covering feasibility studies, permitting, EPCC phases, testing, commissioning, and final handover
Create and oversee detailed project plans, budgets, timelines, and resource strategies
Monitor on-site activities and project execution to ensure compliance with contractual terms, technical specifications, and regulatory standards
Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure effective project coordination
Act as the key point of contact for TNB, SEDA, the Energy Commission, and other relevant regulatory bodies
Ensure full adherence to Malaysian grid code requirements, safety protocols, and utility interconnection standards
Proactively identify potential risks and changes; develop and execute effective mitigation plans
Facilitate project meetings, prepare status reports, and regularly communicate progress to senior leadership and stakeholders
Drive cost efficiency, performance monitoring, and quality control across all stages of the project
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior project managers, supporting continuous improvement in project management processes and frameworks

skills and experience required
Possess a recognised Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil); a Master's degree or PMP certification is a significant plus
Bring at least 12 years of project management experience within the infrastructure or energy sectors, including over 3 years focused on Large Scale Solar (LSS) projects
Demonstrated success in delivering LSS projects of 10 MWac or greater, with strong knowledge of power purchase agreements, grid compliance, and the EPCC lifecycle
In-depth technical knowledge of PV system architecture, substation integration, and (optionally) battery energy storage systems
Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities
Proficient in project management software such as MS Project, Primavera, and skilled in handling technical documentation and progress reporting
Highly motivated, detail-focused, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to perform effectively in dynamic, high-pressure settings
