Job summary

A leading construction company in Malaysia is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee bridge construction projects. The role involves ensuring project compliance, scheduling manpower, and maintaining documentation. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, at least five years of relevant experience, and strong problem-solving skills, including proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Mandarin, to engage with clients.

Job description

To provide day-to-day supervision of the assigned project(s).

To assist the project engineer(s) and/or manager in planning, coordinating, and implementing project activities according to contractual schedules.

To coordinate manpower scheduling for direct workers and sub-contractors to ensure timely progress.

To read and interpret technical specifications, installation drawings, and relevant project details.

To monitor on-site work and ensure compliance with standard work procedures and proper housekeeping.

To verify site conditions against design plans and facilitate necessary adjustments or redesigns.

To assist in material take-off, monitor usage on-site, and support timely procurement to minimize delays and wastage.

To provide feedback on sub-contractor work quality and ensure adherence to technical specifications.

To ensure completed works are inspected and approved by relevant stakeholders or client representatives.

To maintain proper documentation of site activities, inspections, meetings, and progress reports.

To support the implementation of safety and welfare measures for workers and sub-contractors.

To liaise with internal and external teams on all technical and operational matters related to the project.

To assist in providing basic technical support and solutions to clients when necessary.

To carry out ad hoc assignments as directed by the management.

Requirements:

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Professional Degree, Civil Engineering.

At least 5 year(s) of working experience in cross-river bridge construction/management.

Good analytical capability in making independent decisions.

Capable of handling technical issues in building construction activities.

Good organizational and planning skills.

Skilled in communicating with internal and external parties.

Highly proactive attitude and strong problem-solving skills.

Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

Able to speak and read Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
