Job description

• Lead the development and refinement of architectural designs from concept to execution, ensuring alignment with client objectives, project briefs, and regulatory requirements (UBBL, Fire Code, AHJ, etc.).

• Oversee and mentor junior team members (Architectural Designers, Assistants, Drafters) in design development, ensuring high standards of creativity and technical resolution.

Authority Submissions & Technical Compliance

• Direct and review the preparation of submission packages for local authorities (AHJ), ensuring full regulatory compliance and quality assurance across all technical documentation.

• Resolve complex compliance or coordination issues independently or with support from regulatory liaisons and consultants.

Project & Team Management

• Manage multiple architectural projects simultaneously, taking full ownership of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.

• Lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts, ensuring cohesive collaboration with engineers, consultants, and contractors to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, leading design presentations, workshops, and project meetings.

• Ensure design intent is consistently aligned with client expectations throughout all project phases, from concept through construction.

Consultant Coordination & Technical Oversight

• Drive technical resolution by coordinating closely with structural, MEP, and other consultants to ensure design integration and constructability.

• Review and approve key design decisions, shop drawings, material submittals, and site queries to maintain design integrity during construction.

Quality & Risk Management

• Uphold the firm’s design quality benchmarks, managing design risk, and ensuring delivery of compliant, high-quality architectural outcomes.

• Establish internal review checkpoints to ensure documentation accuracy and project efficiency.

Documentation & BIM Management

• Supervise the documentation process, including drawing packages, specifications, and reports, ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance.

• Guide BIM implementation and workflows in collaboration with the BIM Manager or team.

• Lead the architectural specification of materials, products, and systems in consultation with vendors and suppliers, ensuring alignment with design goals, sustainability, and project performance.

Key Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum 6–8 years of architectural experience, preferably across diverse project typologies.

• Proven track record of leading full project life cycles from concept to construction.

• Advanced proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp) and familiarity with BIM coordination processes.

• In-depth knowledge of Malaysian building codes, local authority submission processes, and contract administration.

• Strong leadership, communication, and client management skills.

• Ability to manage teams and mentor junior staff effectively.

• Registration with LAM (Part II required; Part III in progress or completed is advantageous).
