The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong commercial awareness, supplier management experience, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Senior Program Supply Chain (Senior Purchaser) is responsible for the end-to-end management of strategic suppliers to support key programs within Spirit AeroSystems. This role involves ensuring supplier performance, driving cost-effective procurement strategies, and supporting operational readiness across the supply base. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong commercial awareness, supplier management experience, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Manage a portfolio of strategic suppliers in alignment with program needs and production schedules.
Drive supplier development plans focusing on cost, quality, service, and contract performance.
Serve as a point of escalation for critical shortages and supply disruptions affecting build schedules.
Conduct competitive and non-competitive sourcing activities, including issuing RFQs/RFPs and evaluating proposals.
Monitor, analyse, and report supplier performance using KPIs, including delivery, quality, cost, and service.
Lead supplier assessments and business readiness reviews, identifying financial or operational risks.
Facilitate cross-functional supplier reviews and ensure continuous improvement initiatives are implemented.
Contribute to supply base rationalisation efforts and resource planning.
Ensure suppliers have appropriate contractual agreements in place and maintain compliance with contract law and customs regulations.
Identify and mitigate supplier risks related to capacity, capability, currency exchange, and regulatory compliance.
Support supplier transfer projects, ensuring smooth transitions without impacting production.
Interface with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Program Management to align supply strategies.
Participate in internal and customer readiness reviews, providing updates on supplier capabilities and mitigation plans.
Ensure proactive communication with suppliers and internal teams regarding engineering changes and new part introductions.
Ensure SAP reflects current supplier data, pricing, and material availability.
Resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure timely payment processes.
Present procurement updates at monthly reviews and support Customer Satisfaction Reporting (CSR) requirements.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or Graduate Diploma in Business Management, Supply Chain, or related discipline.
CIPS or equivalent professional procurement certification is an advantage.
Experience:
Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience in Procurement or Supply Chain Management, preferably in aerospace or manufacturing.
Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier performance management, and risk mitigation.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong commercial and financial acumen (understanding of P&L, cost models, and supplier profitability).
Solid understanding of project management, contract law, and international trade regulations.
Proficient in SAP and MS Office applications.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Fluent in English (spoken and written); proficiency in Malay, Chinese, or Korean is a plus.
Strong problem-solving mindset with a continuous improvement approach.
Other Requirements:
Willing and able to travel as necessary to support supplier and business needs.
