About the role

As the Senior Product Control/Merchandising Manager at Generation Two Thousand Apparel Sdn. Bhd, you will be responsible for overseeing the company's product planning, inventory control, and merchandising strategies. This full-time role is based in Kuala Lumpur and will be a critical part of driving the company's growth and success in the retail and consumer products industry.

What you'll be doing

1. Develop and execute the M-Plan/OTB budget aligned with company business goals
2. Collaborate with the merchandising team to plan seasonal product buys, review proposals with merchandisers for management approval, place orders, and conduct ongoing forecasting and performance updates
3. Analyze past sales, promotion effectiveness, market trends, competitive landscape, economic conditions, competitors, and customer feedback to guide planning and product lifecycle decisions
4. Monitor sales performance, stock levels, allocation plans, and inventory to ensure product availability and operational efficiency
5. Conduct monthly reviews of M-Plan and markdowns to optimize future buying decisions, protect margins, and ensure sales targets are met
6. Review and provide reports and analysis for internal and external (principal) stakeholders to ensure the right product and pricing strategies—covering pricing activities, yearly marketing plan, and product assortment
7. Work closely with marketing, visual merchandising, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution and alignment of merchandising strategies
8. Manage, mentor, and develop a team of assistant merchandisers or planners

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5 years of experience in product control, merchandising, or a related retail role
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in buying, merchandising, planning, budgeting/OTB, brand management, marketing coordination, and understanding market trends
• Good sense of fashion and apparel knowledge and market trends
• Proficient in using various retail management software and tools
