Job summary

WD is seeking a Senior Engineer, Process Development & Sustaining to lead the development, optimization, and sustaining of HDD manufacturing processes. You will drive DOE-based characterization, chemical/material qualification, and yield improvements while ensuring stability, compliance, and cost competitiveness.

You will interface with global R&D and process teams, mentor engineers, and translate lab-scale science into robust, mass-producible solutions on the Penang floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.
• Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and sustaining of HDD manufacturing processes.
• Design of Experiments to map process windows and CPPs.
• Qualify new chemicals, materials for manufacturing use.
• Develop process recipes, control plans, and SOPs.
• Translate R&D/lab-scale processes into high-volume manufacturing.
• Mentor junior engineers on the Penang floor.
• Own sustaining for process modules and ECOs.
