The Senior Petrophysicist reports directly to Manager, Geophysics & Geology and responsible:
- In Providing technical expertise required for all petrophysical planning, optimization and interpretation for all associated exploration, development and intervention projects operated by Hibiscus Malaysia.
- To manage multiple projects at one time ranging from exploration opportunity assessment with limited data, to building out data acquisition plans and monitoring operations, to post-well analysis and development planning, to working in a multidisciplinary team in building static and dynamic models, to managing and establishing LWD, Wireline, Core and Reservoir Fluid Analysis contracts. Coordinates the interaction with the other subsurface disciplines to ensure all subsurface data are appropriately integrated and utilized for subsurface studies and well planning.
- To maximize economic recovery and present value by managing subsurface projects, reserves, production forecasts, costs, and exploration.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide high-quality petrophysical support to exploration, appraisal, development drilling and intervention jobs/projects.
- Provide appropriate QC and assurance of the existing interpretations, techniques and methodology.
- Carry out in-depth/fast tracked integrated petrophysical studies in a multidisciplinary team.
- Deliver petrophysical input for integrated field studies and ensure properties and uncertainties are adequately incorporated in dynamic and static models.
- Document and present interpretation methodology and results to relevant stakeholders.
- Plan and develop Well Proposals, Well Data Acquisition programs and assist in developing Field Development Plans for Development Opportunities.
- Provide technical recommendations including value of information assessment for Data acquisition plans that address key project issues.
- Deliver real-time petrophysical support during drilling periods, including well placement monitoring.
- Provide support to well intervention jobs, including opportunity maturation, real-time perforation correlation, saturation logging operation and interpretation QC, cement bond logging QC.
- Involve in establishing and managing LWD, Wireline, Core and Reservoir Fluids Analysis contracts.
- Provide petrophysical technical guidance, training and share best practices to other disciplines. Take a lead role in championing of new petrophysical interpretation approach.
- Collaborate effectively within the subsurface team consisting of geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers and production technologists, as well as in multidisciplinary teams/departments.
- Ensure comprehensive understanding and management of all projects undertaken by the organization. Effectively oversee project timelines and ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of objectives such as seismic acquisition/processing, subsurface studies, FFR, FDP, formation evaluation, post-drilling reports and, others.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure all correspondence, presentation materials, reports, and documentation meet the highest technical standards and are submitted promptly.
- Coordinate with the drilling group to ensure safe and successful exploration and development drilling campaigns. Provide expertise and knowledge to identify drilling risks and geohazards, and provide solutions to mitigate these risks.
- Participate in data rooms, compile, and analyze geoscience subsurface and engineering data to provide technical recommendations of opportunities on offer.
- Mentor and coach petrophysicst or geoscientist in the team to achieve full potential.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience or Earth Sciences, Engineering or equivalent qualification from recognized universities /academic institution.
- At least eight (8) to fifteen (15) years of working experience in the geoscience and petroleum engineering disciplines in the oil and gas industry, preferably with an operator.
- Essential experience in geological interpretation and modelling methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of petrophysical principles, formation evaluation and interpretation workflows.
- Strong understanding of well logging tools, logging measurements and their applications.
- Proficiency in industry-standard petrophysical software, particularly Techlog and/or Geolog.
- Strong integrated subsurface knowledge covering Geology, Reservoir Engineering, drilling and production operations.
- Extensive experience in reservoir surveillance, well evaluation and well intervention activities.
- Good knowledge of Field Development Planning and subsurface study requirements.
- Competent in core data acquisition, handling and interpretation, including the design of conventional and special core analysis programmes.
- Knowledge of PETRONAS PPGUA guidelines, JV operations and working with relevant host authorities.
- Strong technical communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical recommendations.
