Senior Officer, Loadmaster
This position is responsible for leading and managing all loadmaster and load control operations to ensure the safe, precise, and timely handling of loading activities, including baggage and cargo, as well as the accurate execution of weight and balance procedures and documentation.
As the Senior Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all flights depart on time, with properly completed load documentation and in full compliance with safety, regulatory, airline, and company standards.

Key Accountability
- Oversee all load control activities related to freighter aircraft weight and balance, ensuring full compliance with safety standards, operational efficiency, on-time performance, and standard operating procedures.
- Plan cargo distribution for all scheduled flights within the assigned shift, and coordinate with the Cargo team to prepare accurate Zero Fuel Weight (ZFW) calculations and Load Sheets.
- Ensure the proper loading and placement of Dangerous Goods onboard in accordance with the designated locations outlined in the Loading Advice or Load Plan. Maintain continuous communication with Cargo operations to accommodate any changes to the Load Plan.
- Prepare and dispatch flight-related messages (such as LDM and CPM) using the approved IATA formats. Responsible for maintaining and filing required flight documentation, especially when automated systems are not available.
- Support administrative tasks as required, including the management of staff uniforms, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), office supplies, and documentation related to the Integrated Management System (IMS).
Qualification & Working Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Aviation, Aeronautics, Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related field. Secondary school education with extensive relevant experience may also be considered.
- Aircraft Weight and Balance / Load Control Certification (IATA or equivalent).
- Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) Certification – current and valid.
- Ramp Safety / Human Factors / SMS Training – as per regulatory requirements.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in load control, loadmaster operations, or ground handling.
- Previous experience in freighter operations is highly preferred.
Areas of Experience
- Strong understanding of IATA, ICAO, and airline regulations related to load planning and dangerous goods.
- Ability to interpret load plans, loading instructions, and related documentation.
- Leadership or supervisory skills – ability to oversee junior staff or load teams.
Key Challenges
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- May require travel to outstations or flight assignments (for live freighter operations).
- Physically fit to work in ramp environments when necessary.
- Strong communication and coordination skills – liaising with flight crew, cargo teams, and ground operations.
