A leading fashion retailer is seeking a Merchandising Specialist to drive their product strategy and merchandising execution across retail stores in Malaysia. The successful candidate will manage product planning, inventory, and analyze sales trends while collaborating with various teams to ensure product availability. Ideal candidates will have a Diploma/Degree in a relevant field with over 5 years of experience in fashion retail, strong analytical skills, and fluency in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin to liaise with HQ.
The Merchandising Specialist is responsible for driving the product strategy and merchandising execution across Cabbeen retail stores in Malaysia. This role involves planning and managing the product mix, ensuring stock availability, analyzing sales trends, and working closely with HQ and retail teams to ensure the right products are in the right stores at the right time.
1. Product Planning & Assortment
Work closely with China HQ on seasonal buys and product selection.
Localize and customize assortments based on market demand and store profiles.
Manage SKU selection by category (e.g. menswear, accessories, footwear).
Develop and maintain line sheets and buy plans.
2. Inventory Management
Monitor stock levels across all retail stores; propose stock replenishment and reallocation plans.
Coordinate product transfers between stores to optimize sell-through.
Identify slow-moving items and propose markdown strategies.
Ensure adequate buffer stock for bestsellers.
3. Sales & Trend Analysis
Track and analyze sales performance by category, SKU, and store.
Prepare weekly/monthly sell-through reports and make actionable recommendations.
Identify fast/slow-moving items and market trends to inform buying decisions.
4. Store Communication & Visual Coordination
Work with Store Managers to understand customer preferences and feedback.
Align with Visual Merchandising team on key product launches and focal displays.
Support seasonal collection launches, campaigns, and promotions.
5. Liaison with HQ and Logistics
Serve as main liaison with China HQ merchandising team.
Coordinate with logistics team to track shipment arrivals and resolve discrepancies.
Ensure timely delivery and distribution to stores.
Conduct competitor analysis to benchmark pricing, trends, and product strategies.
Visit stores regularly to monitor display execution and product acceptance.
Requirements
Diploma/Degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or related field.
Minimum 5 years or above of experience in fashion retail or merchandising.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in Excel and POS/Inventory software.
Able to work independently and liaise with cross-functional teams.
Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin proficiency is a MUST for communication with China HQ.
