CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide scientific and technical leadership to ensure professional and credible relationships with thought leaders and external experts of strategic importance to AbbVie.
2. Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence for AbbVie in key academic centers by facilitating research and educational initiatives, while supporting requests for medical and scientific information on products or areas of therapeutic interest to AbbVie.
3. Support internal teams such as sales and marketing and members of the Affiliate Brand Team to develop their scientific and technical expertise through the delivery of scientific update presentations. Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other in-field members while retaining functional independence.
4. Serve as a point of contact within the Medical Affairs team for thought leaders and external experts within assigned therapeutic areas to satisfy their needs for scientific knowledge and, when requested, relevant AbbVie medicines, to support their safe, effective, and appropriate use.
5. Deliver credible presentations on scientific matters to physicians, individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.), focusing on Tier 1 and 2 thought leaders.
6. Participate in the selection process to identify qualified thought leaders for collaborative efforts such as research collaborations, educational and advisory roles (Advisory Boards, Congresses, Symposia, etc.), ensuring high scientific and educational integrity.
7. Facilitate medical and scientific field intelligence, such as competitor research, medical strategies, and educational activities, and communicate relevant information within the Company.
8. Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop summaries of key data and scientifically relevant information to inform AbbVie’s strategic initiatives.
9. Provide scientific and technical support for publications of scientific or medical interest to key thought leaders/external experts and internal medical and clinical teams.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Advanced degree (e.g., pharmacy, MD, PhD) in Oncology scientific discipline is preferred.
2. Experience in developing and maintaining expert knowledge in the assigned therapeutic area and in medical research in general.
3. Demonstrated expertise in scientific methods applied to clinical research and regulatory controls.
4. Ability to quickly learn about new subject areas and environments.
5. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with thought leaders and healthcare decision makers.
6. Proficiency in written and spoken English is desirable.
7. High customer orientation.
8. Strong commitment to compliance, scientific quality, and integrity.
