Job summary

Cohu Malaysia seeks a Mechanical Senior Engineer to lead the development of new technologies and high-quality features for customers in the semiconductor sector. You will work with a team of engineers to translate concepts into precise designs and ensure tooling rules and templates drive efficiency and consistency across projects.

Key responsibilities include releasing datasheets, maintaining design accuracy, and collaborating with suppliers and customers to optimize quality and cost.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering.
• 2+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering or related industry.
• SolidWorks preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate in English with coworkers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop concepts and designs according to specifications within project timelines.
• Maintain tooling rules and templates to improve design efficiency and quality.
• Release technical datasheets of modules with accurate information.
• Collaborate with suppliers and customers to resolve design requirements and improve cost/quality.
• Contribute to DFMEA, DOE and risk assessments; participate in design reviews.

As a Mechanical Senior Engineer, you will work with a team of engineers to deliver new technologies to customers by developing high-quality features.

You will play an important role in:

• To develop concepts and designs according to the specifications within the project timeline.
• To maintain and develop the tooling rules and templates to increase the efficiency and quality of the designs.
• To ensure accuracy of the information on the canvase.
• To release technical datasheets of the module with accurate information.
• To develop the application team in design rules and templates, ensure that it’s understandable and accurate.
• To propose improvements and optimizations that will improve quality and cost-effective solutions.
• To work with suppliers in improving quality delivery and cost of parts.
• To work with customers in solving critical design requirements.
• Investigating equipment failures and difficulties, diagnoses faulty operation, and makes recommendations.
• To ensure proper technical document transfer to Application Engineering team.
• To participate in brainstorming, design review & DFMEA sessions.
• To conduct experiments to test and analyze existing designs and equipment to obtain data on performance of product and prepare
• Any task that may be assigned from time to time.

To be successful in this role, you need to have:

• Education: Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering.
• Work Experience: 2+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering or industry related.
• oCAD Software (SolidWorks preferred)
• oMicrosoft Applications
• Ability to communicate in English with co-worker and customers via emails and phone.
• Experience in mechanical calculations and applied physics.
• Advanced knowledge on different machining process, fabrication materials and treatements selections and standard electro-mechanical parts.
• Understanding of DFMEA, DOE, and risk assessment.
• Ability to adapt on different environments and work based on priorities.
• Strong commitment to learning and continuous improvement.
