Key Responsibilities:
SMT Process Responsibilities:
- Setup, optimise, and troubleshoot SMT equipment:
- Solder Paste Inspection (SPI)
- Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
- Reflow oven profiling
- Pick-and-Place/Mounter systems
- Perform defect analysis (e.g., tombstoning, solder bridging, cold solder joints) and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Conduct reflow oven profiling and maintain optimal thermal profiles for various PCB assemblies.
- Work with suppliers and tooling engineers to develop and qualify stencils and fixtures.
PTH Process Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimise all PTH-related processes:
- Robotic soldering
- Selective wave soldering
- Conventional wave soldering
- Define process parameters and validate through-hole soldering quality per IPC-A-610 standards.
- Oversee fixture design for wave/selective soldering and lead optimisation for solder joint reliability.
Process Validation & Quality Planning (Will be advantage):
- Lead and execute IOPQ (Installation, Operational, and Performance Qualification) for new equipment and manufacturing lines.
- Develop and maintain APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) documentation.
- Prepare and submit PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) packages to customers.
- Perform PFMEA and capability studies (Cp, Cpk, Gage R&R).
Audit & Compliance Management:
- Lead manufacturing readiness and responses during:
- Customer audits
- Internal audits
- Third-party system audits (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IATF 16949)
- Ensure ongoing compliance with IPC standards, ESD protocols, and traceability systems.
- Implement corrective actions and ensure follow-through post-audit.
Continuous Improvement & NPI:
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by reviewing designs for manufacturability (DFM) and ensuring seamless process integration.
- Drive Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen activities for efficiency, yield, and cost improvements.
- Analyse production metrics and lead improvement projects using SPC and root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of hands-on experience in PCBA manufacturing (SMT and PTH).
- Strong technical knowledge in SPI, AOI, SMT mounter programming, reflow profiling, robotic/selective/wave soldering.
- Proficiency in IOPQ, APQP, and PPAP methodologies will be an advantage
- Demonstrated experience in managing customer and system audits.
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
- Strong knowledge of root cause analysis, statistical tools, and process control.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001, Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing will be an advantage.
- Experience in high-reliability industries (medical, automotive,) will be an advantage.
- Proficiency with MES systems, ERP platforms, and traceability software.
